Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced after a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The track showcases a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The team running the initiative have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The track is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
