Democrats Condemn Trump After He Claims They Should Face Execution

Democratic officials voiced fury after the ex-president alleged a group of Democratic representatives of being "traitors" and asserted they should be taken into custody and penalized "through capital punishment" following their publication of a contentious video.

The Content That Sparked the Debate

The recorded message, published on Tuesday, features six Democratic elected officials who previously served in military or security capacities.

"Like us, you all made an pledge to protect and uphold this national charter," the representatives stated in the short video. "Currently, the risks to our governing document don't only come from foreign nations, but from within our own country. Our laws are clear, you can reject unlawful commands, you can decline illegal orders, you must refuse improper directives. No one has to execute commands that break the law or our national charter."

The Former President's Incensed Reply

The clip seemed to provoke a furious reaction from the ex-president.

On the following morning, Trump published on Truth Social: "This constitutes SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these turncoats to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In an additional publication, he wrote: "This constitutes really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their statements cannot be allowed to remain. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a additional post, he stated: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" He also reposted a declaration that said: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Opposition Representatives React

Following Trump's statements on that day, Democratic leadership issued a joint declaration denouncing the remarks.

"Political violence has no position in this nation," they declared. "Elected officials who were featured in the video all worked our country with tremendous national pride and excellence. We unequivocally condemn Donald Trump's offensive and harmful calls for execution against elected officials, and call on Republican lawmakers to vigorously do the same."

The opposition officials also said that they had been in touch with protective services "to make certain the protection of these officials and their loved ones."

"Donald Trump must right away take down these extreme social media posts and withdraw his violent rhetoric before he leads to violence," the statement stated.

Lawmakers' Firm Answer

The lawmakers who participated in the video also released a statement.

"We identify as former service members and national security professionals who love this nation and swore an vow to protect and support the national charter of the United States," they declared. "Our pledge lasts a lifetime, and we aim to keep it. No warning, coercion, or call for violence will prevent us from that sacred obligation."

"The significant point is that the former president views it punishable by execution for us to restate the statutes," they stated. "Military personnel should know that we have their protection as they fulfill their oath to the national charter and duty to obey only legal commands. It is not only the right thing to do, but also our duty."

They stated: "The entire nation must join forces and condemn the ex-president's calls for our execution and political violence. This is a time for ethical certainty."

More Political Responses

The Opposition leader also denounced Trump's remarks and posted on digital platforms: "Let's be crystal clear: the ex-commander in chief is requesting the death of government members."

He added: "This is an outright THREAT. All senators, all representatives, the entire nation – without partisan consideration – should censure this right away and unconditionally."

The Republican House speaker justified Trump's allegation that the Democrats had participated in "rebellion", characterizing the video as "highly unsuitable", commenting: "This constitutes very risky, you have prominent officials of Congress advising troops to ignore directives, I think that represents unprecedented in US history."

The GOP official also allegedly told journalists that in what he reviewed of Trump's messages, Trump was "defining the crime of rebellion" but that "lawyers have to analyze the wording and establish all that."

Administration Response

During a White House press conference on later that day, when questioned by a journalist, "Is the president want to kill congressional representatives?", the executive branch representative responded: "Absolutely not."

"We should understand about what the president is addressing," the official said. "There are sitting members of the US Congress who worked together to arrange a digital communication to individuals of the US military, to current military personnel advising them to ignore the president's lawful orders."

She stated: "The integrity of our armed forces rests on the command structure, and if that structure is broken, it can lead to people getting killed, it can lead to confusion, and precisely what these congressional representatives ... are fundamentally encouraging."
