This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.
It might not have been at the same level as sparing festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a new presidential term.
“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”
The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.
“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.
“It embodies the character of Miami: happy, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”
Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
