Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Updates

Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
